Origin Statement

Affordable housing compliance is not an abstract specialty for The Dean Group. Andelyn Nesbitt Rodriguez, the firm's Principal and Founder, grew up in this work. Her grandmother built her career at the New York City Housing Authority. Her parents each built careers leading community development organizations serving communities throughout South Carolina using CDBG, HOME, and LIHTC funds.

Andelyn came to this work as an analyst and grew inside it as a practitioner at a nonprofit community development organization, then administered it as a compliance officer at the City of Columbia, South Carolina. Later, she developed and delivered national CPD training, built compliance tools, authored workbooks, and guided jurisdictions in updating their policies, procedures, and HUD reporting documents.

That full-circle perspective is what Andelyn offers. You cannot just learn it. You have to live it.
