Origin Statement

Affordable housing compliance is not an abstract specialty for The Dean Group. Our principal's grandmother built her career at NYCHA. Her parents each led nonprofit affordable housing organizations that grew into self-sustaining, multimillion dollar community development companies using the same CDBG and HOME funding streams at the core of The Dean Group's work.

Our principal came to this work as an analyst, grew inside it as a practitioner, administered it as a compliance officer at both a nonprofit community development organization and the City of Columbia, South Carolina, and trained the national ecosystem at ICF.

That full-circle perspective is not available from a consultant who came to this work through a policy degree. It is only available from someone who grew up in it.
